Level 2 NVQ – Plant Operations – Movement Guide (Traffic Marshal)

This qualification focuses on the skills and knowledge required to safely direct and control the movement of vehicles, plant, or machinery on a construction site. It is often referred to as a Traffic Marshal or Banksman qualification.

How it works:

  • Registration: Upon enrolment, we’ll assign a dedicated assessor to you.
  • Site Visits: Your assessor will schedule site visits based on your work availability to observe your skills.
  • Evidence Gathering: During these visits, your assessor will capture evidence through photos, videos, and recordings.
  • Workbook: You’ll also complete a workbook questionnaire containing questions related to your role.
  • Completion: The qualification is typically achieved within 6-8 weeks.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, the candidates should be working within the industry to enrol in this NVQ.

 

  • Practical Observation on-site. This includes documenting tasks like:
    • Traffic control: Implementing and maintaining traffic control measures, such as signage, cones, and barriers.
    • Traffic coordination: Working collaboratively with other site personnel, such as site managers and construction workers.
    • Pedestrian safety: Ensuring the safety of pedestrians during construction or maintenance activities.
    • Communication: Effectively communicating with site personnel, contractors, and the public.
    • Compliance: Adhering to relevant health and safety regulations, including traffic management guidelines and site-specific rules
  • Workbook Questionnaire to be completed over a 6-8 week period, at your own pace
